Class Recruit supports new #WeAreEducators campaign in Bristol

The team at Class Recruit are fully supporting a new campaign by the Early Years Alliance aimed at raising awareness of the incredible work carried out by nursery workers and Early Years practitioners across the UK.

The new campaign is called We are educators - not babysitters and is a positive campaign aiming to help those working in the Early Years sector.

The goal of #WeAreEducators is to highlight to parents, local communities and policymakers the unique importance of the Early Years, as well as showcase the amazing role that the sector's workforce plays in shaping children's lives.

Early Years professionals spend between two to five years to become qualified and have in-depth knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop through the early years.

Early Years workers look after children between the ages of five months and five years, supporting their day-to-day activities including nappy changes, feeding and nap times, as well as ensuring that learning opportunities are maximised throughout the day.

The activities organised by Early Years practitioners support the children's physical, emotional and educational needs, and many outside of the sector are unaware of the time and commitment given to this work.

It is far from babysitting, or simply playing with children during the day.

Unfortunately, we sometimes see that industry practitioners are just paid minimum wage and get statutory benefits only, despite their work ethic, qualifications, commitment and passion for Early Years.

We see nursery workers help to build a child's knowledge and shape their future.

The Early Years sector provides the stepping stone a child needs to successfully start primary school, secondary school, and their future.

Many children at local nurseries learn social skills, communication, and language development, as well as gain an understanding of the world.

Early Years of education include teaching children about people, diversity, communities, cultures and much more.

Early Years professionals take time to observe each child individually to gain an understanding of their individual needs, interests and requirements.

Nursery workers create engaging and relevant learning experiences and environments to support every child's development at this key time.

Early Years practitioners also build positive relationships with each child's parents, carers and families to ensure that all needs are met.

Regular meetings are held with parents and carers about their child's development, progress, and what can be done to support each child as they move through developmental milestones.

We see many of our nursery workers providing parents and carers with additional guidance and support on activities they can do at home with their children.

Early Years professionals work in partnership with parents and carers to help each child develop in every area of the EYFS.

The critical importance of the first five years of a child's life cannot be underestimated and is vital to their long-term learning and development.

Early Years is not childcare. It is vital for early education.

For that reason, Class Recruit fully supports #WeAreEducators.
